Hired out May 1977 at age of 28 with SCL RR in Jacksonville, Florida as Switchman/Trainman and transferred to engine service in August 1978.
August 1984 hired by Amtrak for Auto Train Service in Sanford, Florida as Locomotive Engineer. In 1994, became qualified on all CSX territories utilized by Amtrak south of Florence, SC and west of JAX to Pensacola. Served on Safety Committee in Sanford, Florida. Served as Vice Local Chairman BLE&T Division 35 JAX representing Auto Train Engineers in Sanford. Late 1980’s became qualified as an Operation Lifesaver presenter. In 2006, served on planning committee for BLET SE Regional Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Retired from Amtrak in 2009 with 32 years railroad service.
Relocated to North East, Maryland in 2010 and opened a successful retail model train business. Joined the North East Maryland Chamber of Commerce as an Executive Committee Member. Joined the North East Rotary Club and served as Secretary for two years. Attended district leadership conferences and regional conventions.
Relocated back to DeLand, Florida in 2014 and worked in retail stores as a Manager in Stock and Receiving. October 2018 moved to Port Orange, Florida and tried retirement again. December 2018 served with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in Panama City, Florida.
December 2018 joined NARVRE Unit #70 Daytona Beach, Florida, and have been serving as the Legislative Representative since May 2019, and Co-chairing the NARVRE 2019 Florida State Association (FSA) Conference in Daytona Beach, Florida on November 2, 2019.
September 2019 appointed NARVRE Asst. Area 1 Director.
November 2, 2019 elected as FSA President at FSA Conference representing 8 units and almost 400 members.
February 1, 2020 appointed as NARVRE Area 1 Director representing 14 units in 7 southeastern states and almost 800 members.
