Membership of NARVRE Unit #187 Houston, TX
Dear membership:
On June 13, 2014, National NARVRE President Tom Dwyer appointed me to the vacant Area 5 Directorship which encompasses the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, which was effective immediately. This position was recently vacated by Tony Padilla when he became the National Vice President via the election during the NARVRE convention held in Sacramento in April, so I will be fulfilling Tony’s remaining term of office of the Area 5 Director. By this new appointment I have also
become a member of the Governing Board and an automatic delegate to the NARVRE national convention. This new appointment will in no way affect my duties as president of Unit #187.
In both of my current positions, our purpose in NARVRE is to protect and to preserve the Railroad Retirement System. I am excited and pleased to be able to now continue my leadership role on the level as president of Unit #187 as well as the Area 5 director. Bringing railroad retirees, veterans, and current railroaders together on issues related to the rights granted by the Railroad Retirement System describes
my duties as both president of Unit #187 and Area 5 director. I will still offer the same services to Houston’s Unit #187 but will now branch out into all of the Area 5 states.
If you ever have any questions or concerns re: railroad retirement and NARVRE, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to serve the membership and assist in any way possible.
Sincerely,
G. G. Gonzalez
